The start point for the best source of fleet information

CONFERENCE: Green fleets cut costs

Date: 31 May 2007

Saving the environment saves money was the message from the Energy Saving Trust's Nigel Underdown at last week's BusinessCar Conference.

He stressed that a green fleet doesn't have to consist of hybrids and impractical electric vehicles, but well-managed traditional technology.

Fleets must break the assumption of cars automatically being cheaper than trains and start factoring in the cost of a driver's time for the real business cost, as well as looking at tech such as video conferencing to save journeys needing to be made in the first place. "The cleanest car is the one that is stationary; the biggest win for the environment and costs is mileage reduction."
