Keep an eye open for sleep disorder

Date: 24 July 2007

Insurer Norwich Union is warning fleet managers to look out for drivers suffering from the condition Obstructive Sleep Apnoea as suffers have a high risk of falling asleep at the wheel.

Apnoea refers to short spells when breathing stops, in this case during sleep. Symptoms to look out for include morning headaches, loud snoring with periods of silence, irritability, forgetfulness and mood changes.
