NEW MODEL: Audi's new A5 coupe revealed

Date: 26 February 2007

Audi has officially revealed its new A5 coupe after leaked images were posted on the internet last week.

Based on the next generation A4, the coupe is set to give Audi a rival to the BMW 3-series coupe and Mercedes CLK. The look of the A5 gives a substantial clue to how the new A4 will look when it is released in early 2008.

Sharing some of the styling of the new TT, the A5 is also claimed to be a practical coupe with seating for four adults and a boot of 455 litres.

The A5 will be powered by a range of petrol and diesel engines with power outputs ranging from 170PS to 265PS. The range will then be topped with an S5 model powered by a V8 petrol engine producing 354PS.

Audi's new coupe will include a host of new technology including a new key, which not only does away with the traditional metal part, but also includes a memory which can store information such as mileage and servicing items. Audi believes this will simplify the car's hand-over at a dealership for servicing or maintenance.
