Renault delivers Compact Kangoo

Date: 05 November 2007   |   Author: Hugh Hunston

Growth in internet-related urban deliveries has influenced the format of Renault's new Kangoo Van Compact, which is based on the Scenic MPV platform.

It is a more compact and shorter wheelbase (down 38cm) counterpart to the larger, new Kangoo van, but boasts a maximum load capacity of up to 2.9 cubic metres, within a length of 3.8 metres.

Both Kangoo Van Compact and Kangoo are due on sale next autumn and will be available with cruise control, speed limiters and rear parking proximity sensors. A pair of 1.5-litre diesel engines - 70PS and 85PS and both sub-140gm/km CO2 - will dominate sales, although a 90PS 1.6-litre petrol power unit will also be available.

The Kangoo vans are fitted with detachable satnav system holders and USB, MP3 and iPod connection points.
