Seat launches off-road Altea

Date: 23 May 2007

Seat has released the first pictures and details of its latest Altea variant, the Freetrack. It joins the Altea, Toledo and Altea XL in a big family all spun off the lower medium hatch Leon.

The Altea Freetrack, which is the first Seat off-roader, features four-wheel drive and 40mm of extra ground clearance over the Altea XL on which it is based.

Two engines will be available: a 200PS 2.0-litre petrol T FSI and a 170PS 2.0-litre TDI diesel. The 2.0 T FSI has a max speed of 133mph, with 0 to 62mph taking 7.5 seconds, while the 2.0 TDI boasts figures of 127mph and 8.7 seconds.

The car will make its debut at the Barcelona Motor Show on 7 June and arrives in UK showrooms this September.
