Used buyers demand Sprinter and Crafter

Date: 18 October 2007   |   Author: Hugh Hunston

Mercedes and VW maintain their places at the top of the used medium-sized used panel van's most wanted list, according to RV experts Glass's, which predicts sustained strong demand continuing next year.

The Mercedes Sprinter plus VW's Crafters and LTs dominate the trade buyers' charts in a market driven by "very limited popular used stock", according to Glass's chief commercial vehicle editor George Alexander.

According to Alexander during recent months and in all auction halls "every clean van has reaped the rewards and sold at a fast and furious pace. With such a healthy backdrop for panel vans just about every van range achieves its best ever used price performance."

But growing volumes among lightweight vans, including Renault Clios, Ford Fiestas, and Vauxhall Corsas have generated downward value pressure. Alexander reports that used Renault Kangoos have fallen out of favour partially due to "fantastic new model deals including satnav and air conditioning".
