Arval expects BP row resolution

Date: 15 September 2008

Fuel card giant Arval is continuing talks with BP over the oil firm's decision to stop accepting Arval cards from the end of October.

Arval is "expecting to have a resolution" to ongoing negotiations in the next few weeks, with meetings planned between the two parties.

The spat started when BP announced that it will no longer accept Arval at its 300 company-owned fuel stations after 31 October. The firm's other 900 independently owned but BP-branded filling stations will be free to accept the Allstar card, although there's no word yet on how many could follow the franchise-holder's decision to end the?Arval relationship.

BP has been bullish about sticking to its decision, claiming it is already sending out marketing material to its sites to inform Arval card holders of the change. The fuel card supplier is, though, optimistic about the chances of reconciliation.
