Credit crunch yet to hit fleet sales

Date: 12 May 2008

Vauxhall again topped the new car fleet sales market last month, though it's still behind arch rival Ford in 2008.

The fleet market was 7.5% up on April 2008 with 92,563 cars registered last month, and the year-to-date figure now reads 2.2% up at 412,647.

In comparison, the overall figure for the first four months of the year sits dead-level with 2007 as retail sales are down.

However, Ford did grab the top model placing, with the Focus holding off an impressive four Vauxhall models. Astra, Corsa, Vectra and Zafira came in second to fifth respectively.

Renault had a difficult month, sliding to eighth place in the manufacturer table from its usual fifth, with Audi, BMW and Toyota taking advantage.
