GreenRoad cuts idling

Date: 07 December 2010

GreenRoad 360, an organisation that promotes safe and efficient driving, has launched a fuel-saving solution for fleets that it claims cuts consumption by up to 5% by eliminating unnecessary idling.

GreenRoad claims the idling management capability identifies drivers, vehicles or particular journeys that "negatively impact fuel performance" and applies filtering to idling activities that are unavoidable due to traffic lights and junctions.

It says the feature is compatible with all makes and models and does not require disruptive ECM integration or an ignition sensor up fit to determine whether the engine is running.

Additionally Greenroad claims the solution eliminates the need for data downloads, has no impact on vehicle warranties and can spot weak batteries or electrical failures.

A GPS mapping component enables fleet managers to identify where idling is most prevalent and the service generates weekly reports on idling performance across the whole fleet.
