FIRST PICTURES: Revised Audi A4

Date: 07 November 2011   |   Author: Jack Carfrae

Audi has released the first official pictures of its new A4 saloon and estate. Released at almost exactly the same time as the first shots of BMW's new 3-series, the images reveal a mild front-end restyle but of more importance is the revised range of engines, including a 2.0-litre 136hp TDI diesel with 112g/km and 67.3mpg in the saloon.

The more powerful 163hp 2.0-litre TDI unit is almost as efficient at 115g/km and 64.2mpg. Two other four-cylinder TDI diesels will be available with 143hp and 177hp, along with three 3.0-litre V6 TDI engines, the most efficient of which returns 57.6mpg. Petrol engines will consist of 1.8-, 2.0- and 3.0-litre variants of the existing TFSI units. The new A4 is expected to go on sale in early 2012.
