Fleets diversifying driver training programmes

Date: 10 May 2012   |   Author: Rachel Burgess

Companies operating vehicle fleets are diversifying driver training options as the online market grows, according to Jonathan Mosley, director of sales and marketing at online driver risk-assessment and training firm E-Training World.

Mosley said "forward-thinking businesses are now mixing online training with in-vehicle tuition, and addressing specific issues rather than opting for a 'sheep dip' approach".

He continued: "Most businesses use an initial online risk assessment to draw up a profile of each driver, so that they can determine their strengths and weaknesses. In many cases this is then compared to accident records and fuel usage to decide what training is required, if any, and what form of training is most appropriate.

"A few years ago we may have come across two out of 10 companies that wished to apply targeted training to their drivers. Now it's far more commonplace with eight in every 10 asking for a menu of courses so that relevant training can be given," added Mosley.
