Online tool keeps firms aware of London Olympics road changes

Date: 15 June 2012   |   Author: Rachel Burgess

Businesses can help plan journeys during the Olympics next month by using a new 'temporary road changes' tool that has been added to website www.getaheadofthegames.com.

The tool lets London's road users see how the areas where they live, work and visit will be affected, and is searchable by postcode.

It also includes information about the Olympic and Paralympic route networks and the Road Event routes in London.

More information, including traffic management around the Road Events routes and venues, will be added to the tool in early June.

Meanwhile, TfL held a live TWITTER chat last week giving advice to businesses on travel-planning during the Games. O2 participated in the discussion, giving advice to other organisations following a pilot it ran.

Business director Ben Dowd said: "We know the Games are expected to bring operating, travel and business challenges. We've tested our ability as an organisation to manage all the complexity that those challenges bring. by conducting a flexible working pilot at our Slough office, where 2500 staff worked remotely for the day.

"By understanding how this worked, the planning we needed to put in place and how our IT and employees needed to respond, we are now in a position to share our learnings with other organisations."
