Enterprise and Thrifty launch new rental initiatives

Rental giant Enterprise has expanded its operations to major London train stations in a bid to reel in more business customers. The firm now has a site at Waterloo station and is due to open another at St Pancras this month. Euston and Paddington will also join the line-up in September.
The firm also announced that its car sharing initiative, known as CarShare, has allowed Woking Borough Council to save 14,000 grey fleet miles annually and cut its CO2 for employee business travel by 37% after the organisation implemented it in 2010.
David Johnson, corporate strategy manager at Woking Borough Council, said: "We wanted everyone to buy in to the thinking behind our car sharing programme. We knew that mileage reimbursement was seen by many as a discretionary 'perk' so we brought the unions in from the beginning. That way they knew that we were providing alternative means of transport at no cost to employees rather than trying to reduce benefits.
"They grasped this immediately, as well as the environmental benefits of the. cars, and this got them on board from day one.
Without the perceived perk of mileage reimbursement and how it can encourage them to drive more than they need to, our employees take a more considered approach to their travel planning. In fact, many now see the programme as an additional staff benefit."
Fellow rental firm Thrifty has opened a new branch in Luton, which will offer its Flexifleet product to businesses.
