Brake encourages businesses to take part in Road Safety Week

Date: 06 August 2014   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Road safety charity Brake is encouraging businesses to support this year's Road Safety Week, aimed at promoting safer roads and reducing the number of people killed or injured on the UK's highways.

Road Safety Week takes place between 17th-23rd November and it is hoped that the week will be bigger than last year's event where more than 7000 businesses, schools and community groups took part in raising awareness.

Brake has suggested activities including asking local councils and MPs to highlight dangerous routes, promoting general road safety tips and running workshops to educate young people on the dangers of the open road.

"Road Safety Week is a perfect opportunity to take action on local road safety issues by campaigning and making a difference in relation to protecting the most venerable road users like children," said Julie Townsend, Brake's deputy chief executive.
