The start point for the best source of fleet information

BVRLA conference set for major industry sponsorship

Date: 16 May 2014

BMW and Drive Software Solutions have been signed up as main sponsors of BVRLA's Fleet Technology Congress.

The event, being held at the Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon, on July 1, is set to explore a range of key developments such as telematics, 'Big data,' and intelligent mobility services.

Guest speakers include representatives from the Department for Transport, KPMG, the Automotive Council, Frost and Sullivan, and Thatcham.

BVRLA chief executive, Gerry Keaney, believed the vehicle rental association's inaugural event would offer valuable industry insight for fleet managers.

Among the main issues to be examined will be the impact of autonomous safety features on fleet vehicles and how smartphone apps are influencing the industry.

Mr Keaney said: "We are really pleased to have BMW and Drive Software Solutions supporting us in this exciting new event.

"Both of them are market leaders in what they do, and their technological knowledge and expertise have already been invaluable in helping us put together a strong agenda for the event."

More than 150 senior executives are expected at the congress, which is being supported by fleet industry organisations ACFO, and the Institute of Car Fleet Management.

Matt Bristow, BMW's general manager of corporate sales, welcomed the firm's involvement.

He said: "In order to remain industry-leading for our fleet customers, we continue to invest in our model range and this congress is an ideal opportunity to showcase the latest in technology across both BMW and MINI."

Chief executive of Drive Software Solutions, Andrew Burns, added: "The technology landscape around vehicles and how they are managed is changing so fast that it is a real challenge for leasing companies and large fleets to keep up.

"Given the opportunities for leasing and fleet management organisations which are presented by big data to deliver new services to fleet customers, we think that this is a very exciting time for the leasing sector."
