Date: 05 December 2014   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Fleet registrations are up by 8.1% on the first 11 months of 2013 according to the latest Society of Motor Manufacturer and Traders figures. In the year to date, 1,080,577 fleet cars have been registered.

Last month's fleet registrations were up by 7.7% on November 2013. Just under 90,000 cars were registered last month compared with 79,968 in November 2013.

New car registrations as a whole grew for the 33rd consecutive month in November, up by 8.0% to 172,327 units according to the SMMT.

The SMMT said 2,310,237 cars have been registered in total in the year to date, a rise of 9.4% and ahead of 2013's full year total.

The Ford Fiesta remains the UK's most popular car, selling 123,747 units to the end of November.

"Six months after the record was broken for consecutive monthly growth in new car registrations, the market continues to march on. Today's figures are an indication of the continuing economic confidence that is driving the new car market, with business, fleet and private registrations all showing strong rises in the month. We expect a more stable market in 2015," said Mike Hawes, SMMT chief executive.
