The Volkswagen Touareg topped vehicle data provider Glass's monthly 'hot five' list of the fastest selling used cars.
The firm said the off-roader is often underrated and said it is a "thinking man's Porsche Cayenne".
Vauxhall's Mokka and the Chevrolet Orlando came home in second and third places respectively, with the data expert suggesting buyers are attracted to the "funky looking crossover".
The Skoda Yeti and December's best-seller, the Toyota Prius made up the rest of the top five. The average selling price for the top five fastest selling cars was £15,791.
At the other end of the spectrum, the Vauxhall Cascada was the slowest-selling car in January. Glass's said this result "underlines Vauxhall's current disconnect with the retail buyer".
The second-slowest selling used car is Kia's Optima, and the Seat Toledo, Renault Scenic and Suzuki's S Cross make up the rest of the top five.
The average selling price for the five slowest selling cars in January was £15,062.
