Chevin reduces licence check time from two days to one hour

Fleet management software firm Chevin has updated its driver licence checking module, cutting the check time down from two days to one hour.

According to the company, the updated software uses new DVLA technology that allows faster access to data. It added that the system will often complete the checks in real time, but offers a guarantee that they will be returned within one hour.

To complete a check, the fleet manager will need to get a mandate signed by the driver through the fleet management system, and then mark the record for checking, with the rest of the process happening automatically.

The module also allows licence checking regimes to be put in place that can, for example, specify more frequent checks for higher mileage drivers or those with more points on their licence while it also produces a range of reports showing the status of drivers and will automatically flag up "problem" checks.

"This is a very useful module that combines the advantages of faster checks, improved accuracy and a reduced administrative burden," said Ashley Sowerby, managing director of Chevin Fleet Solutions.
