Mazda 6 and MX-5 on the Young household driveway

These days if you're an MP or, for that matter, a journalist, you have to declare your interests. So in the interests of openness I have to admit the Mazda 6 isn't the only Mazda on my driveway.
I also own, not one, but two others.
The one I've had the longest is a 2011 MX-5. I bought it nearly-new as a midlife-crisis toy, but it actually gets used as my wife's commuter vehicle almost every day it's not raining. Roof down every time, too.
The more recent acquisition is a 2007 CX-7. This is used by the aforementioned wife when it's raining and she needs a roof, or to take the kids somewhere.
I have to add that I didn't really set out to buy only Mazdas; they just tick all the right boxes, such as reliability, good looks and fun.
Pretty much like the 6, although it has a big advantage: it's also efficient, achieving nearly 50mpg. The other two never get better than high 20s mpg figures.
But the story doesn't end there. BusinessCar's editor also owns two Mazdas: an older MX-5 for fun, but his family car is a 2010 Mazda 3.
So with this all in the open, I can continue to report on the 6's progress.
