Average business car emissions drop below 150g/km

Date: 10 February 2009

The average CO2 emission figure for new business cars leased during 2008 was 149.9g/km.

The figures compare with 158g/km across the whole industry including private registrations, and illustrate the fact that fleets are the driving force behind decreasing new car CO2 figures.

Average mileage is also claimed to have fallen in 2008, down 2026 miles on 2007 at an average 19,617, according to the BVRLA.

The organisation also predicts that the momentum in company car emissions won't continue to fall in 2009, blaming contract extensions and a potential shortage of the lowest emission new cars.
