508 RXH hybrid to hit 109g/km

Date: 14 October 2011   |   Author:

Peugeot is hoping its new four-wheel drive Audi Allroad-style 508 RXH hybrid will attract fleet user-choosers thanks to its practicality and low emissions.

The 109g/km estate, powered by Peugeot's Hybrid4 diesel-electric system consisting of 160hp diesel engine and 40hp electric motor, has increased ground clearance and has a more rugged look than its SW estate sibling, and a Peugeot spokesman described it as a "huge advantage" for user choosers in tax terms.

Being launched as a single £32,695 model, the RXH is "four cars in one" according to Peugeot: "A four-wheel drive, an electric car, a big family saloon and a diesel hybrid." A saloon 508 fitted with the same Hybrid4 technology will come later in 2012, coming in with the same 99g/km emissions figure as the crossover 3008 model that's the first to benefit from the technology.

Peugeot is expecting big things in the corporate market from Hybrid4-equipped models, predicting that 80% of registrations in the 3008 iteration will be from fleet.
