Bristol workplace parking levy surveys commence

Date: 27 March 2012   |   Author:

Bristol City Council has begun surveying where to place the boundaries of its workplace parking levy ahead of a public consultation expected later this year.

The council confirmed it has set a £1 per space per day fee, and it is now examining where to place the boundary in order to raise the necessary revenue to help pay for a new bus scheme.

"The £1 per day is determined, then we'll determine how far to cast the boundary," a council spokeswoman told BusinessCar. "It is a reasonable cost for businesses to pass parrkon to users of the space and it will raise enough money."

The council has also commenced telephone interviews with 200 Bristol business to see how the proposal would affect their operation and to research the number of spaces they currently offer staff.
