Ford is to supply Fiesta 1.0-litre Ecoboost models to the AA driving school

Ford has struck a deal with the AA to supply a fleet of Fiesta 1.0-litre Ecoboost superminis to its driving school business.

The blue oval has an existing long-term contract with the firm, which sees it supply 3500 cars a year and is made up of an even mix of Fiestas and Focuses.

The smaller car's share of the mix is set to grow though, as head of AA group fleet Sarah Dopson explained: "The split between Focus and Fiesta has been roughly 50/50, but we anticipate a growth of 12% in Fiesta in 2013 with the introduction of the 1.0-litre EcoBoost."

The 125hp model is said to be "most favoured" by driving instructors and returns 65.7mpg and 99g/km from its three-cylinder petrol engine.
