Kia Proceeds with sporty GT models

Date: 12 March 2013

Kia has revealed its Ceed GT and Proceed GT models, the performance iterations of its lower-medium offering.

Powered by a 204hp 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, they will reach 62mph in 7.9 seconds. Features will include LED daytime running lights, dual exhaust pipes, 18-inch alloys and red brake calipers.

Designed in Europe, the carmaker said the GT models were the "most performance-focused production cars ever" for the brand. Due to be built at Kia's Slovakian plant, the Proceed GT will go on sale in mid-2013, while the Ceed GT will arrive later in the year.

Prices and specifications will be announced nearer on-sale date.
