CO2 cut for facelifted Mini Countryman

Date: 28 April 2014   |   Author: Martin Gurdon

Mini has given a mid-life revision to its Countryman crossover, with the visual tweaks accompanied by efficiency improvements that see each model in the range dropping one benefit-in-kind band.

The radiator grille has been redesigned and is now model-specific for the One, Cooper and Cooper S levels, while Mini has attempted to emphasise the crossover nature of the car by adding guards to the front, rear and side sills.

A contrasting paint finish for the roof and wing mirrors is a no-cost option, and all models above the One specification get LED fog lights and running lights.

The 90hp Mini One D and 111hp Cooper D both drop by 4g/km to 111, while the 143hp Cooper SD is now at 119g/km rather than the pre-facelift 122g/km, and all engines meet the forthcoming Euro6 emissions legislation.

Mini doesn't know when the facelifted Countryman will arrive the UK, but order books will open imminently in what it described as "late spring".

Pricing starts from £16,990, which is a £370 increase, although Mini was unable to confirm if that will follow across the rest of the range.
