Mercedes introduces Sport version to Citan line-up

Date: 19 February 2015   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Mercedes has extended its Citan light van line-up with the launch of a Sport model, aimed at customers who want a high-specification model without the need to spec-up a standard model. It is on sale now, costing from £16,490, excluding VAT.

The derivative is offered in long panel van models with 90hp and 110hp diesel engines. Standard items include 16-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, Sport mats and badging, daytime running lights and chrome inserts.

A three-year warranty, MobiloVan UK and Service24h subscriptions are also included as standard. The Citan Sport becomes part of Mercedes' sport family which includes the Vito Sport and Vito Sport X models.

The Citan became Mercedes' smallest van when it came to market two years ago and the brand has struggled somewhat to establish its presence in a new sector.

A spokesman said: "It's growing but has taken its time to bed in. the Citan was never going to take over the market overnight but it's getting there."
