Oil giant Shell is developing its own city car concept

Date: 09 April 2015   |   Author:

Oil company Shell is developing its own city car concept in collaboration with Formula One and McLaren F1 designer Professor Gordon Murray and Formula One engine specialist Osamu Goto.

Shell said the new car will be "ultra-compact and efficient for city use based around the internal combustion engine".

The Project M car is due to be unveiled in November, but judging from the design sketch, the car is a rear-engined and has space for two rows of seats.

A spokeswoman for Shell said there are no plans at this stage to put the Project M car into production.

Selda Gunsel , Shell vice president lubricants technology, said: "We believe this Shell car will demonstrate how efficient a car can be when Shell works in harmony with vehicle and engine makers during design and build."
