New Volkswagen ID.7 to make its debut

Date: 04 January 2023   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Volkswagen has announced the first details of the ID.7, its new electric saloon.

The model will be making its first appearance, in camouflaged near-production form, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas over the next few days.

It will be the sixth model in VW's ID electric range, joining the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID. Buzz, and the China-only ID.6.

Based on the familiar MEB platform, VW says the ID.7 will have a range of up to 434 miles on the WLTP test cycle, although full powertrain specs are yet to be announced.

Elements of the model's exterior design, including an aerodynamic front section and roof and front air intakes, have been designed to reduce wind resistance and therefore improve efficiency, while VW claims a wheelbase of 2.97m will provide an especially spacious interior.

Features of the interior will include an augmented-reality head-up display, a 15in screen, new air conditioning controls integrated into the first level of the infotainment system, and illuminated touch sliders.

VW says the series production version of the ID.7 is due to make its debut in the second quarter of this year. UK specs, prices, and an on-sale date are yet to be revealed.
