When choosing our ASX, one consideration was the pros and cons of petrol over diesel. We opted for the less powerful former, as it had lower CO2 (135g/km versus 145g/km) and is £2200 cheaper. So, as fuel prices have risen hugely in the past six months, how is our ASX 3 1.6 faring now?
Well, as it stands, petrol for the car over 3yrs/60,000mls would cost £7701 compared with £7375 for the ASX 3 1.8 diesel. But add in factors like insurance and SMR, and cost per mile for our ASX wins. It stands at 48.0ppm against 53.6ppm for the diesel. Not a bad choice then.
