Space in the Audi A3 is deceptively large, comfortably fitting a weekend's debris and three children

A few months back we bought a second-hand oak table and six chairs.
Rather than take the Audi to the sellers' house, I took our old Seat Leon because I felt its deep boot would mean I would have to make fewer runs.
That lack of belief in the practicality of the Audi's premium class-leading 380-litre boot reared its head again recently when I doubted its ability to cope with a long weekend away with the family in Somerset.
I should have had more faith. That's because thanks to my wife's expert packing - a job I will gladly hand over to her from now on - and 'glass half full' nature, the A3 boot succeeded in holding everything we needed for the break that would include trips to the sandy beaches of Minehead and Weston-super-Mare.
There's even a small pushchair in there (hidden right at the back), while the bottle of champagne on the left celebrated the fact that my wife's optimism triumphed over my ingrained pessimism.
