The start point for the best source of fleet information

Modus's Grand design

Date: 10 October 2007

Renault has stretched a point with its revised Modus range by including a longer, more spacious Grand Modus variant in a bid to boost disappointing sales for the small MPV.

Due on sale next February it is 161mm longer incorporating an extra 93mm wheelbase compared to its thoroughly reworked "standard" Modus counterpart.

As a result Renault claims the Grand Modus, based on the Clio III platform, now has a sector leading 410-litre boot capacity and a host of storage spaces, including under floor compartments, drawers and airliner style overhead lockers.

The Grand Modus's load carrying space is 136 litres greater or 50% higher than the standard car and they both share the sliding and 60/40 rear seat format.

The powertrain choice will remain "broadly similar" to the current range with the 86PS 1.5-litre dCi diesel expected to be the leading fleet performer, particularly among Motability customers.
