Date: 09 September 2008

Renault's new Megane hits the UK this November with a choice of four diesel engines all getting under 120g/km. The 1.5-litre diesel will come in 85, 90, 105 and 110PS power forms, the 90 and 110PS versions coming with a particulate filter as standard.

Other engine highlights of the dozen on offer include the last to arrive. Coming next spring, the 130PS 1.4-litre turbocharged unit offering the power of a 1.8 with emissions and economy of a smaller engine.

Renault has shied away from another big styling leap after the last-generation model's dramatic bustle-back made famous by the derriere-shaking television adverts.

The new car does though include climate control as standard, and the French firm is also promising improved reliability and durability.

Renault is promising a six-car Megane range by 2010, which will take in the five-door pictured here, along with three-door, saloon, estate, CC anda hot hatch RenaultSport version.
