Honda confirms launch of new hybrids

Date: 22 May 2008

Honda has confirmed it will launch a new five-door hybrid that will go on sale early next year.

The petrol-electric car will be cheaper than the £17,105 Civic hybrid, and is expected to sell more than 200,000 units globally.

Honda has also confirmed the introduction of a Jazz hybrid, a new Civic hybrid and a hybrid based on the CR-Z concept that appeared at last year's Tokyo motor show

In the UK, Honda expects the new, as yet un-named, vehicle to further accelerate their hybrid sales.

Ken Keir, managing director of Honda UK said; "We've been developing more efficient and lower emission products for decades and the knowledge and experience gained over the years has helped bring a more affordable hybrid car to the market."
