Tesla settles Ecotricity court dispute

Date: 22 June 2015   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Tesla has settled a court dispute between the firm and electric vehicle charging point supplier Ecotricity that stopped the American car maker from placing superchargers in motorway service areas in the UK.

The court dispute has gone on for more than a year.

In March, High Court judge Dame Vivien Rose ordered Tesla to provide evidence of internal meetings and discussions with other companies about setting up its own network of supercharging stations across the UK.

Ecotricity had to provide financial records, strategy documents that supported its claim it could use the agreements to block Tesla's access to motorway sites.

Last week, Tesla announced it would be adding seven superchargers at motorway service stations with additional UK motorway supercharger locations in the works.

"Ecotricity and Tesla have reached an out of court settlement, the terms of which are confidential," a Tesla spokeswoman told BusinessCar.
