Audi TT RS 2.5T: Road Test Review

Following the recent introduction of a new entry point for the TT range in the form of the 160PS 1.8T roadster, Audi has also brought in a new range topper, the TT RS.
With an all-new 340PS 2.5-litre turbo petrol engine, the RS model is surprisingly efficient on tax. It's not often you find an insurance group 20 car in anything other than the top 35% tax banding, but the Audi TT RS with its 4.6 second 0-62mph time comes in at 30% for benefit-in-kind which is two points lower than its main rival the Porsche Cayenne S.
The fastest Audi, even at 88.4p per mile, is also £2000 less expensive than the Porsche. This cost difference also puts the £42,715 price into perspective.
To drive the Porsche may be fractionally more fun, thanks mainly to the level of steering feel and rear-drive set-up. But the TT is significantly quicker, thanks to all-wheel drive and because of this, it's much easier to drive quickly.
The TT is also much more practical having a hatchback-style boot and includes folding rear seats.
If your top execs will insist on a high performance sports car, the TT RS is a more sensible choice than most.
