This is something that I've mentioned before, but I'm blown away at the BMW 330d's performance, given that we're consistently averaging fuel economy of 45-50mpg.
Having lived with the Touring for over 6000 miles, it's continually proving itself in the 'all the car you'll ever need' category.
It has that incredible 258hp 3.0-litre engine on tap, yet will record fuel figures nearing 60mpg on a sedate cruise-controlled motorway run.
The performance and economy are helped by the excellent eight-speed auto 'box that's smooth no matter what the situation.
