Renault Nissan and Leaseplan to go electric

Date: 21 April 2009

Leaseplan and the Renault Nissan partnership have started the first significant agreement that could see electric vehicles being leased to the corporate market.

The companies will study how to promote the use of electric vehicles and look at how they could be provided to Leaseplan's clients around the world.

The Renault Nissan alliance has welcomed the partnership, pointing to Leaseplan's environmental brand Greenplan.

"Leaseplan's commitment to reducing CO2 emissions is the perfect match to create the conditions for zero emission mobility," said Eric Nicolas, senior vice president of Nissan. "We look forward to working together for a cleaner future."

Vahid Daemi, Leaseplan's chief executive officer: "With the increasing awareness of environmental issues, company car drivers tend to change their behaviour in the way they select their car and in the way they drive. This project together with the Renault-Nissan alliance perfectly fits with the strategy we embarked on with Greenplan as part of our overall efforts in the field of social responsibility."
