Bluemotion tweaks drop VW Passat CO2 emissions below 100g/km

Date: 15 June 2015   |   Author: Daniel Puddicombe

Volkswagen has added two Bluemotion variants to its Passat range, dropping the CO2 figure below the 100g/km mark to 95g/km.

Both the saloon and estate models are powered by the firm's 120hp 1.6-litre diesel engine. Both models return 76.3 mpg and emit 95g/km CO2, dropping the Passat from the 19% BIK band to 17%.

The non-Bluemotion model emits 107g/km and returns 67.3mpg.

The Bluemotion costs from £23,200 for the saloon and £24,750 for the estate when the models go on sale in August.

The models are based on the entry-level S trim level, which features the firm's post-collision braking system, a mis-fuelling prevention aid and driver alert as well as Volkswagen's infotainment system which is displayed on a 6.5-inch touchscreen
