Seat seeks 'strong' fleet appeal with Audi-based Exeo

Date: 15 October 2008

Seat's new Exeo will have a "strong appeal to fleet" according to company boss Peter Wyhinney.

The saloon launches next May and an estate follows in the summer, with a combined target of 4000 units a year.

Wyhinney denied a shrinking upper medium market would be a problem.

"The segment is still very big and at the moment we get zero of it," he said.

"Particularly in the business sector, we tended to hit the ceiling in the past. This gives us the opportunity to capture people who know and love the brand but ran out of size."

The Exeo is based on the old Audi A4 and uses its switchgear, with Seat changing the front and rear styling.

The launch of the Exeo is part of the brand's plan to double global sales to 800,000 by 2018.
