Dacia Sandero dubbed UK's 'least depreciating car'

Date: 08 August 2013   |   Author: Jack Carfrae

Dacia's Sandero supermini has been declared the UK's "least depreciating" new car in terms of the total amount of cash lost. Residual value specialist Cap has calculated that the 1.2 Access model, which costs £5995 when new, will lose £3165 after three years and 60,000 miles.

The firm said that the top-spec Laureate version with the same engine would only drop another £1400 over the same period.

Dacia said the announcement "shatters any illusion" that its bargain-basement approach would mean the cars would not stack up financially when they came to be sold on.

However, some RV setters had predicted the opposite, claiming the firm's extremely low P11D values from new could result in promising used values. In August 2012, Gavin Amos of CDL VIP Data said of Dacia's used values: "RV percentages could be the highest in the market compared to cost new.

"This could also affect used values for other brands when comparisons take place of similar models."
