GE launches digital handover service

Date: 16 May 2013   |   Author: Hugh Hunston

GE Capital's fleet services division has launched a new digital service designed to make end of life vehicle collections more straightforward and convenient for fleet managers and business car drivers.

Branded "Collect My Car" it provides the facility of arranging vehicle collection via smart phones, electronic tablets and PCs with bookings times and locations for handovers.

Any subsequent alterations or cancellations can be logged on the system and fleet managers or company car drivers can also request online end of term purchase valuations on their cars or vans.

Tim Maffey, asset management leader for GE Capital UK said the website demonstrated the fleet service division's philosophy that new technology should make customers' lives easier.

The website provides a collection shortlist section to complete or provide including service history documentation, manufacturers' handbook, spare keys and, if appropriate, alloy wheels locking bolts, to avoid time consuming follow up action.

It also warns company managers and drivers of the need to remove physical or digital personal data from the vehicle.

Guidance is provided on the BVRLA's wear and tear standards to avoid subsequent disputes over the condition of cars being handed over. The system has a real time link into GE Capital's fleet disposal system.
