Awards 2011 - Remarketing: BCA

Date: 25 January 2011

This is win number 16 for BCA in the history of these awards, as the auctions giant retains the title it snatched back from Manheim last year.

It was a busy time for BCA last year, with the company passing 100,000 online sales for the first time in its history, no doubt helped by the snow at the beginning and end of 2010.

"Online sales in the remarketing sector gained some real traction in 2010 and have become an integral part of the sales programme for most volume sellers at BCA," said BCA remarketing director D'Vidis Jacobs. "The fact that nearly one in every five vehicles sold by BCA last year was purchased, processed and paid for online is significant indeed."

But there was still plenty going on in the auction hall too, with the used vehicle market settling back into its normal seasonal patterns after a more difficult 2009. Used values finished the year 4.7%, or £283, behind December 2009 at £5905, but still £1042 ahead of December 2008.

BCA's top 10 cars sold during 2010 included £625,000 for a Bugatti Veyron, while a pink Smart ForTwo sold for in £5350 in aid of a cancer charity.
