1. What was your first job? Audit clerk in a Carlisle firm of accountants.

2. What was your first company car? A yellow Fiesta 950 popular, with brown plastic seats and no radio.

3. What did you listen to on your last car journey? My five-year old daughter singing (sort of)!

4. What one thing do you wish you could do better? Get straight to the point.

5. What's your biggest achievement? Working with some great people at Deloitte for 13 years.

6. Who are your role models? Alison Chapman from Deloitte for logic, Andrew Cope from Zenith for enthusiasm and Ross Brawn for determination.

7. What's the stupidest thing you've done? Being late for a meeting because I got trapped in a hotel revolving door.

8. What was the most hotly debated topic at your last meeting? The effect the new '09 tax rules will have on whole-life costs.

9. What's in your garage? A BMW 1200gs and a 49cc Vespa, the car lives outside.

10. What's the worst thing about your job? Not being able to switch off from it.

11. What one law would you make or change? I'd introduce a six-month mobile phone ban for drivers caught using handhelds at the wheel (something really horrible if they are caught texting).

12. What keeps you awake at night? Radio 4 and the world service.

13. Who is your ideal celebrity date? Ross Perot the founder of EDS.
