Awards 2008 - Sporting Car: Audi TT

It's no surprise the Audi TT has taken the Sporting Car category once again. In 2007 the TT not only landed this award but also bagged the headline award of User-chooser Car of the Year.
The Sporting Car category is a broad one that comprises more than 30 entrants, but despite the competition the TT won with nearly one in eight of the votes. Launched 18 months ago, the new car now has serious driver appeal as well as good looks.
The past year has seen the TT gain a convertible model which has helped sales rise by 80% in fleet and a massive 150% in the total market.
The next 12 months should see the introduction of a quattro version of the 2.0-litre petrol car, which will ease the slight tyre scrabble that can crop up in greasy conditions. There's also the likelihood of a diesel-powered TT, although Audi remains tight-lipped about the details.
