BusinessCar's Paul Barker puts 13 testing questions to another victim
1. What was your first job? At the tender age of 16 I started as a Saturday sales assistant in a gents' outfitters - DM Hoey in Glasgow. I learnt the art of dealing with customers, providing service and, of course, the art of selling.
2. What was your first company car? My first company car was a Peugeot 309. I was the first person to get the keys. It was all very exciting, but little did I know the delights of driving a 309!
3. What did you listen to on your last car journey? Radio 5 Live. It's my default setting in the car and I really enjoy the news and sport.
4. What one thing do you wish you could do better? Easy question, this - hit a fairway wood!
5. What's your biggest achievement? In a professional sense, it has to be securing my current job as head of fleet and business sales at Seat. It's a very exciting time to be involved with Seat's fleet operations.
6. Who are your role models? First and foremost, my father. He taught me the values of humility, dedication and simple hard work.
7. What's the stupidest thing you've done? How long have you got? But seriously, I think making mistakes in life is inevitable. Learning from those mistakes is the important bit.
8. What was the most hotly debated topic at your last meeting? My last meeting was around customer satisfaction, and there was some positive and lively debate about how we can work to make our customers' experience truly memorable.
9. What's in your garage? Not a 1963 Morgan - unfortunately. Rather, it's the accumulation of modern life.
10. What's the worst thing about your job? Unsolicited emails from agencies that I have absolutely no intention of engaging with!
11. What one law would you make or change? I'd introduce compulsory driver training for youngsters. The successful Young Driver programme, sponsored by Seat, has introduced thousands of 11-16-year olds to driving in a safe, controlled environment. It is, simply, a brilliant scheme.
12. What keeps you awake at night? I sleep pretty well, thanks. I guess it must be a result of working for a successful brand!
13. Who is your ideal celebrity date? Halle Berry. Need I say more?
